Overview

This tool helps calculate system balance of refrigeration systems. You can use Library Mode (CSV-driven) or Manual Mode (type values directly). Suction line loss (which affects coil temp and system capacity) are included automatically.

Inputs (What you need)

• Box Temp (°F): Target box temperature.
• Evap Btuh: Rated evaporator capacity at your design condition. When loading model numbers form the library, default conditions are 25° coil (35° box) for cooler and -20° coil (-10° box) for freezer.
• SST/Capacity Points: Two published capacity ratings in BTU/H at two different suction temps. SST-1 MUST be the lower of the two and SST-2 MUST be higher. For example, if SST-1 is 20°, SST-2 should be 25° or 30°. Or if SST-1 is -20°, SST-2 would be -15° or -10°.

Evaporator Capacity (Evap Btuh)

Enter the evaporator’s rated Btuh at your design or select an evaporator model from the CSV library to auto-fill.

SST & Capacity Points

Provide two condenser coil SST points (SST-1 Low & SST-2 High) with their corresponding capacities. The calculator interpolates between them.

• SST Low / Btuh Low — lower design point.
• SST High / Btuh High — upper design point.

Model Libraries (CSV)

Upload CSVs for Condenser, Evaporator, and Compressor. Begin typing a model to auto-fill fields. Compressor CSV will show refrigerant if compressor can use multiple refrigerants.

Calculate & Outputs

• Calculate: Click Calculate or press Enter. Auto-calc runs as you type.
• Evap Temp (TE): Coil SST with suction line loss subtracted.
• TD: Based on raw SST before suction loss.
• Capacity: Adjusted evaporator capacity with ~3% derate.

Warnings (TD range)

If Coil TD is outside 7–20°F, a banner appears. Low TD (<7°F) often indicates undersizing or input issues; High TD (>20°F) can indicate a mismatch or atypical load conditions.

Copy / Share

Use the Copy button to place a clean, formatted summary (including source models if selected) on your clipboard for emails or reports.

Troubleshooting

• CSV won’t load: Check the first row is headers; try saving as plain CSV; commas or semicolons are both OK.
• Numbers look off: Confirm units (°F, Btuh), remove commas in CSV numeric cells, verify SST/Capacity pairs.
• TD warning: Recheck inputs, try a different model, or confirm load assumptions.
